Gone Fishin

Since I’ve been ashore at the cabana I’ve noticed a lot of love for fishing. I figured rather than myself and others interrupting threads, this could be a great place to share.

I’d love to hear everyone’s tales from the high seas.

Since we got ice I’ll start off by sharing some night shots of smelt fishing with a buddy.

Just tried both methods to attach four photos of fish and every one of them said the file is too large with both methods.

Just like any good fish story, you guys are gonna have to use your imagination. Two salmon on a stick over bank with a rod, another one shows a fish with a bear footprint, another one shows me filleting a salmon on a cleaning table, and the last photo is a tray full of fish headed into the smoker. Sorry, but apparently my pictures aren’t gonna work anymore. Let’s try a screenshot, quickly, to see if it’ll work:

Smelts are running very well here atm . I have a friend that runs nets under the ice for them . I get a Sobeys bag jammed full for $10 . To answer your question i cook them 2 styles . One way is roll them in seasoned flour and fry them in butter . Yesterday was so nice out that i dug my propane burner out and deep fried a mess as well .

Smokin some BBW out on the riva today. Feels great to be on a river and baked on BBW

Fly’s are poppin off the water pretty decent on a 60 degree day but the fish are staying deep, hitting v light, and infrequently in the 40 degree f water.

Aroma, flavor, and smoke leans more to the D’s on this plant.
