Poppin Fresh is learning the hard way!

Well ladies and gentlemen! I've been too busy in the Toker's Den stirring up trouble lol. :spank: But, in that time, I've been absorbing a shit load of information since before I even joined ICMag and while growing my first crop. I didn't want to put the diary up until I was done. But, I figure...

Setup
Genetics: God Bud (reg) from Seed Supreme
Light: 2x24W (~150W each) in veg
1x90W (~1000W) in flower
System: bubble buckets in veg + recirculating DWC in flower
Floor space: 2-in-1/2x3 tent, 53 inches tall.. 2x2 flower space & two 2x1 spaces.
Nutrients: GH 3-part/Lucas + Orca Mycorrhizae
Air: carbon scrubber
Water: distilled bottled
Monitoring: by feel lol
Dry Chamber: TBD
Dates: Germination @ 01/07

Goals
1. Make more seeds
2. Keep a mother
3. Perpetual grow
0. Of course, grow some good, quality marijuana

I got 4 plants. Ideally, I'll get 1 male and 3 females. I plan to take cuts from all before flower. When they finally sex, I'll know what to do. I'll isolate 1 and 1 to make seeds. Keep the other for sweet leaf production. Whichever female cuts I get, I'll need a mother or two. Realistically, who knows this early?

First two pics show the first week and last 8 pics are today 1/23/24. Gotta give up that sweet root porn, no charge lol. I did have some nutrient issues which seemed like nitrogen deficiency. I emptied everything and used GH's formula. I know it's higher in nitrogen. Since then, damage halted on the leaf tips of the 2nd set of true leaves. While Amazon is taking 5 days to send the calmag (might be that too) I ordered for same day delivery, I figure the problem is fixed, so far. It might have been pH issues too. Looking good now. Eating a lot. I just had to refill.

First plant to the left, I call ugly duckling. It kinda pushed itself out of the peat plug instead of digging in. So, it's a little stunted and the stem worries me. But the roots coming in strong.

I have a question that's bothering me. Maybe y'all can see. I'm getting internodal shoots already; Week 3 started today. I haven't had that in my other grows. I did some minor research and saw that happening with reveg but those were bud sites. I thought I was supposed to top it first. I love that my stretch isn't stretching too much. I'm waiting for a 5th node to do any topping. I do want to top twice.

Day 18 update..

I always gotta give up some root porn.

I think I will do the first topping tonight. I may clean up some of those lower leaves too. I do want to take some cuts but those shoots are too small.

If you guys can see the main stem on the smallest one. How should I handle that? What would you do?

I'm thinking about treating it the same as the others - top it and take cuts probably later as it's kinda slow. But, I'm not sure it will make it to flower. Then again, it's come this far already. So, I'm not dumping it or anything. Might have massive potential.

Also, that damaged part IS getting fatter, just not fatter than the part of the main stem above it. It's a nutrient bottleneck but it's healthy. I feel good about it.

Any other thoughts and critiques are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Day 21.. I think lol

I've topped and set up some propagation bins. I needed to order some more air stones. I intend to have cuts going by the end of week 4 and moving to flower by week 5. Ugly Duckling/B is still not standing on its own. I'm so sorry I didn't plant that one properly. It's going strong despite my mistake. I'm attempting to root the tops from A and B as well. The tops from C and D were too too small to try and I'm running out of space anyway.

But, I finally got around to a little side project I been meaning to work on for months. I got the mason jars 2 months ago. it works interestingly because the ports are just a little wider than my ¼". However, they slip IN perfectly secure. The water pump is USB. It took about 20 hrs to drain that battery. I found some USB air pumps and ordered them today. So, the ball jar set up will be portable. USB lights are next. Maybe I'll build a box and that'll be for a separate post one of these days.

The other side project, which I should and could probably push right now are inspired by Hydra Unlimited Hydra max buckets which run the plumbing underneath the buckets. I find them to be a bit expensive and too big+bulky with two 8gal w/fixtures and pumps costing 250+.. ouch. "I'm a legacy grower. Of course, I'm going to rig some shit up LOL. I rather pick up some ¾" tubing and connectors so it can wait. Save that for another post as well.

Day 27

Had to run an audible, moved my timetable up a bit; nothing flipped to 12/12 yet tho. Just crowded and losing headspace.

Took cuts and lollipopped. Hopefully they root. Decided to play around with Coco and some perlite. Mini hydroton/clay balls was taking a whole week to arrive so F it.

Everything looking good and smelling fantastic. I just don't remember my plants smelling this intense and goooood before any actual buds formed. I'm almost scared how funky it'll get when they actually flower.

A tomato seed sprouted and I planted 6 basil seeds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah I'm still waiting. The tomato popped up tho. I grabbed some seeds from a lemon too. I wanna grow everything. I'm feeling good lol.

My father used to have a small orange tree. And he was big on roses. Home Depot has some rose canes I intend to grab up soon enough.

I have been mistreating my canna cabana family with a lack of updates.

Day 43, Day 13 of flower. I've labeled my plants A through D. So far, A and C have flowers. B, the runt, hasn't shown much. I'm really hoping D is a male because I wanted to make some seeds.

Then, all the cuts roots successfully. I'm just keeping them alive right now. I got three A and three C, two B and two D. 6 females and 4 possibles lol.

There's so much overcrowding. This god bud grows aggressively. I need to move some of those plants out and hopefully breed in that 2-in-1. In the future, I intend to top early and/or flower earlier.

I already have a 2x4 tent on the way but they got me waiting til Thursday. I got half the other stuff - lights, fans, water pumps, etc. Only thing missing is the tent and air pumps. Wednesday, I'll start getting the buckets ready.

Day 62.. Day 32 of flower.. a lot of changes have been made.. having personal issues with both family and my significant other but F that lol

I now have one plant, D, in the small tent with all kinds of odd LST going on to keep the tops under the damn light. I killed B because I figure it's never going to get where I would like it and I do have the clones going. More on that in a min. A and C are doing well in the big tent, getting fat and funky. Whereas D, although at the same age, isn't showing as much progress, probably due to a lack of dissolved which I corrected today by cleaning up the bucket clutter.

I've balls across all 3 plants. But, it's not a lot. I'm not sure if it's the seeds or maybe I missed some light leaks which is absolutely possible.

As for the clones, they're still going strong and have four tops now except one from B which has just two. Considering I may have a good 4 to 6 weeks of flower left on this sativa, I may take cuts from all of them in the next week or so to start the clone process over.

What I've learned is that it is not 2005 anymore lol. What I mean is, these tents kill all my headspace and I was growing as if I had 10 foot ceilings when I only got these tents at 53 inches and 72 inches in height.

Anyway, I gotta plan better. The only beef I have outside myself is I didn't get any males. The walls of these tents suck in by a lot which is bending fan leaves preventing full light capture, overall.

The SCENTS.. the new kids say shit like terpenes.. F that lol.. even with the carbon scrubber, one on each tent, every time I walk into my room I get a good scent. But, today, I gave a few buds a good squeeze and my fingers smelled of a strong and sweet citrus. Part of me doesn't want to wait but I know the rule -patience is key.

Day 82.. day 52 of flower.. Technically, today is Day 54 of flower but I stay slacking on my diary updates. Better than me crying about wanting the grow the last 13 years so I'll take it.

I intend to harvest on 4/09.. of course nothing will actually be ready by 4/20 but that's ok. When every day is 4/20, you don't worry about special days lol.

I started flushing on Day 47 of flower actually. Something odd happened.

The leaves on C began drying up despite being full of purified water as it is also connected to A. A is showing typical yellowing and nutrient deficiency. D is showing a similar and typical response on its own with smaller buds. But, C just looks dessicated and I don't know why. My whimsical guess is C knows what's coming and is getting ready to get smoked. What a trooper, eh? Check the pics.

On another slightly sad note, I've come to the decision that I won't keep growing until after I move. I've devised multiple ways to not miss a beat. However, my gut is telling me to wrap it up immediately. I mean, dumping all the clones now AND, after harvest, cleaning everything, breaking down the tents and placing things in storage. I don't know why I feel this way. I just got this touch of paranoia despite the move being about 2 months away. All I know is my gut has kept me out of a jail cell since 2005. I'll keep it that way.

I still have 4 more God Bud seeds but I'm considering buying something different especially depending how this crop smokes up. If anything, I'll run two strains next time. I intend to have another crop by the end of the year.

Sorry it took so long.. definitely had to follow my gut. Nothing crazy happened. My apt complex was doing renovations to the HVAC in each apartment. My stack was next. Had to move all my stuff to the center of each room etc etc etc. And, I was moving anyway. So, just kept boxing stuff up. Never settled back in. All was good tho.

I harvested a bit early. I'll try to end this grow with this post. I already moved and in Week 8/Week 4 of flower.

Here are the highlights

-isowashed the shake
-2x4 tent hermied, plants A+C
-D was fine

I shared with some friends but kept most of it to myself, of course. I got some decent reviews. Of course, everyone liked the sensi and no one wanted that seeded shit lol. I knew it wasn't as strong as it could be considering I pulled a bit early.

The high was ok. I wasn't impressed by it. I didnt get that sativa high I was looking for. I definitelt felt the indica side of it.

I'm looking forward to this next grow tho. Got a fresh lease and plenty of time. I'll start another thread soon enough.

The very first seeds I ever bought were Godbud. I was a member at VIseeds forum and bought them from Dan Van Pot who ran the site and bred the seeds. It was the 2004 HT indica winner and I grew them OD in the summer of 05.
No citrus or sativa. They were all indica or close enough I couldn't tell any difference. All fruity and berry taste. I LOVED THEM
Sorry your experience was less than that. All the GB I have tried since then has been also less than...

Didn't hand trim any of it, all done in the bowl. I had been debating it all myself. It's worth the purchase especially since the prices have come down a lot for the so-called Chinese knock off. They're all made in China, anyway. But I got it off Amazon.

Nice. I've noticed that about a lot of strains. The descriptions don't match the experience of 10+ years ago for some of these strains. Ever since this varied state legalization, things just changed. I think the quality has dropped across the board. There was more honesty amongst us criminal growers, traffickers, and dealers. Now, everyone is a breeder or some kinda "terpene" expert. Saw a guy in the FB group actually want to buy terpene spray because whatever he grew didn't smell how he wanted as if the spray would make the difference. Shit has changed but it also hasn't changed at all. I feel like we been at this for some time. Aint a damn thing change. I'm still in a non-legal state, same rules apply for me.
